What You Need to Know

  • ATMs are widely available in all cities and towns
  • International cards (Visa, Mastercard) work at most ATMs
  • Notify your bank before traveling to avoid card blocks
  • Smaller villages may not have ATMs — carry some cash
  • Airports have exchange counters (rates may be slightly lower)
  • Banks offer competitive rates during business hours
  • Exchange bureaus in tourist areas are convenient
  • Keep some Euros or USD as backup

The Dirham is a closed currency — you cannot buy it abroad before arrival.

Cash is king in Morocco, especially in:

  • Souks and markets
  • Small restaurants and cafes
  • Taxis and local transport
  • Tips and small purchases

Cards accepted at: Major hotels, upscale restaurants, supermarkets, and some tourist shops.

Tipping is appreciated but not obligatory:

  • Restaurants: 10% if not included in bill
  • Cafes: Round up or small change
  • Hotel staff: Small tips for helpful service
  • Tour guides: Optional but many guests choose to show appreciation
We take care of this for you.

All major costs are included in your package. We handle guide tips, transport, and entrance fees — you only need cash for personal purchases and souvenirs.
